Gulshan Books Kashmir has received the Lal Ded Literary Award 2026 in the category of Literary Excellence & Publishing on account of its commendable contributions to literature, publishing, bookselling, and the conservation of the literary heritage of Jammu & Kashmir. The award recognizes the institution’s continued efforts towards developing a reading culture in Indian literature.

A Prestigious Award

This prestigious award was bestowed on Mr. Sheikh Ajaz Ahmad, Chairman of Gulshan Books Kashmir, at a highly dignified ceremony that took place at Tagore Hall, Srinagar. This event saw the presence of Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, who was the chief guest for the ceremony. Two other dignitaries, namely the former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat and renowned scholar and former Member of Parliament Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, also honored the occasion.

Literature & Culture in Celebration

The ceremony was also marked by the release of Lal Ded – The Mother of Kashmir, a new book authored by Dr. Vaidehi Taman dedicated to Lal Ded – the highly respected mystic and poet of 14th-century Kashmir. The ceremony brought together writers, publishers, scholars, journalists, and book lovers from all parts of the country, emphasizing the need to preserve the literary and cultural heritage of Kashmir.

For many years now, Gulshan Books Kashmir has been actively involved in supporting the literary environment in the area.
